ICSD has banned its Athletics Technical Director from deaf sport for 30 years for misusing his position of trust to sexually harass a woman during the 2022 Summer Deaflympic Games in Brazil.
Whilst this decision took place last November it is encouraging to see that under the leadership of president Adam Kosa, decisive action is being taken on cases that breach ICSD’s Code of Ethics.
The ICSD statement is available on the ICSD website
Since coming to office in September 2022, Kosa and the Executive Board have made swift decisions to strengthen the governance and representations in global decision making for Deaf Sport.
It has appointed:
Legal Commission
Women in Sports Commission
Audiology Commission
New Rules of Procedure for the Executive Board
Ad-Hoc Commission for Gender Balance
It has started procedures for selecting members of the Anti-Doping Commission
Preparation are underway for the 2025 Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, Kosa having made trips to meet local organisers and government decision makers.
